Navid Azimi Sajadi

Navid Azimi Sajadi (b.1982, Tehran, Iran), Azimi’s work reviews his experience in-between two cultures. He has developed an esoteric language of signs and symbols from multiple mythologies and histories. This untitled work is composed of a customarily symbolic language referencing ancient Hellenic sculpture, Islamic architecture, Zoroastrian motifs and contemporary popular culture. Typically, Azimi makes use of both traditional materials and contemporary objects, here for instance he juxtaposes stone carving and cardboard boxes. Each individual element is laden with meaning, coalescing to represent today’s society as Azimi perceives it. Azimi has been the subject of solo exhibitions at a number of museums worldwide, including Castello della zisa curated by Giuseppe Moscatello & Ashkan Zahraei organized by Mondro Mostre (Palermo, Italy), Foundry, Dubai (2020); Complesso monumentale Santa Maria Nuova, Monreale(2020), Deanesi Gallery, Trento(2019); Kare Art gallery, Istanbul(2019); Scuderie Ducali plazzo Acquaviva, Atri(2019); MACRO, Roma(2018); Palazzo Bevilacqua, Bologna(2013); He participated in the Muso carlo bilotti, Roma, Italy (2020); “ TOMES” Williamson Gallery / ArtCenter College of Design, Los Angeles, USA(2019); Cica Museum international art contest, Gimpo, South Korea(2016); Madder Red Gallery, London, UK(2015); Brunei Gallery, London, UK(2014); Framer Framed, Amsterdam, NL(2013); 9th Shanghai Biennial: Tehran Pavilion, Shanghai, China(2012); Freies Museum, Berlin, Germany(2011); Maraya Art Center, Sharjah, UAE, among many other group exhibitions.
