Bavan Gallery presents Foundation, a group exhibition at West Space, an off-site venue within the Diplomat Baran Building in Saadat Abad, Tehran. Bringing together works by five artists, the exhibition explores the relationship between material, architecture and artistic creation.

Exhibition Statement
Ava Shirjafari, Artistic Director of Bavan Gallery
Material is the starting point of architecture and art; what culminates in construction in one, transforms into an opportunity for seeing and experiencing in the other.
Foundation takes shape from this very relationship; from the encounter between the artwork and architecture, and the presence of materials that forge a common language between the two.
This exhibition can be narrated from the moment material acquires identity.
Iron, stone, wood, and other materials present in the works distance themselves from their familiar functions. Their weight, surface, texture, and form are no longer solely in the service of construction; the material itself becomes the object of observation.
The sculptures and artworks in this exhibition navigate the boundary between art and architecture; a space where solidity merges with delicacy, and silence with presence.
Each artwork is a proposition to re-examine the everyday materials that build the city; this time, not as a structural element, but as an aesthetic experience.
Foundation is an invitation to rethink the dichotomy of building and creating; where art is not merely a part of architecture, but the spirit that gives identity to a space and allows it to be seen anew.
