Bavan, in its first appearance at the 8fair, presents a spatial installation by Farhad Mofavaz. This installation explores a movement between water and desert. Mofavaz views the world through a paradox rooted in Iran's geography a land that has always oscillated between scarcity and abundance, silence and flow, stillness and transformation. Through textures, layers, and forms reminiscent of earth crusts, evaporation, erosion, and hidden currents of water, he creates a world where the boundary between external nature and inner experience becomes blurred.
In his work, the desert is not merely a climate; it is a metaphor for the condition of contemporary Iranians solitude, resilience, and the search for the flow of life within stillness. Water, throughout his works, functions as a form of collective memory sometimes concealed, sometimes bubbling up, and at times leaving only a trace on the surface.
