Samaneh Motallebi
Samaneh Motallebi is an Iranian painter, sketch artist, and creative visual artist, born in 1986 in Tehran. She received a BA in Graphics from Shariati University in 2012. With over 12 years of professional artistic experience, she is a member of Iran’s Painters & Illustrators Association. Since 2011, she has held four solo exhibitions in various galleries, and her work has been displayed in more than 50 international and national exhibitions, including the Art Fair of Beirut, Art Fair of Dubai, exhibitions in Seattle, Los Angeles, Armenia, Germany, Azad Art Gallery, Allies' Project of Dubai, and Asar Gallery.
Samaneh Motallebi was one of 16 artists selected for the Seattle Project and was also chosen for an artist exchange program between Iran and Mexico at Tehran’s Kooshk Residency (though she could not attend due to scheduling conflicts). Her work has been published in Good News of Iran Exhibition Catalogue in Germany, Present Drawing of Iran in the weekly publication Tandis, and featured in an article in Tehran’s Angah Magazine.
In 2017, she was one of eight artists selected by a jury of four from over 500 young artists in the Exhibition of Young Artists at Asar Gallery. Her work, which is represented in collections in various countries, focuses on themes of women, daily life, and a careful consideration of the world and human experience. She has developed a unique teaching approach to drawing that emphasizes an acute perception of the surrounding world. A distinctive, combinative style characterizes her work, blending sewing and drawing, or combining drawing, photography, printing, and sewing—reflecting some of the most personal aspects of her artistry.
